What is a Scanned (Image) PDF? – A Brief Background

A PDF created using a scanner, or similar machine, that takes an image of a document and then stores this image as an electronic PDF file. A scanner, or photocopier with scanning abilities, does not recreate each character of every word when it creates this scanned image – rather, it simply takes a “snap-shot” of the image. This snap-shot is then turned into a PDF document by software that integrates with the scanner or photocopier – the result is a “scanned” PDF document.

Converting a Scanned (Image) PDF to Word

Able2Extract Professional allows users to extract the text from these scanned PDFs and convert into editable MS Word. Formatting, layout and other features of the Scanned PDF are recreated within MS Word.

Converting a Scanned (Image) PDF to Excel

Using advanced OCR and conversion technology, Able2Extract Professional has the ability to take tabular data from scanned PDFs and transport the data into formatted Excel spreadsheets for easy data analysis.
