{"id":6116,"date":"2016-05-10T10:10:01","date_gmt":"2016-05-10T10:10:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.investintech.com\/resources\/blog\/?p=6116"},"modified":"2019-08-26T10:07:26","modified_gmt":"2019-08-26T10:07:26","slug":"hatch-fill-objects-areas-autocad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.investintech.com\/resources\/blog\/archives\/6116-hatch-fill-objects-areas-autocad.html","title":{"rendered":"How To Hatch Or Fill Objects\/Areas?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Part 4 of 13 in our <\/span><\/i><b><i>How To Use AutoCAD series<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When using AutoCAD to draft blueprints or designs, the CAD designer must keep in mind the type of material that will be used when the design is built. \u00a0For this, AutoCAD uses \u201chatches\u201d that represent solid masses and materials to be used and incorporated within the design when it\u2019s built.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When creating your CAD drawing, you can decide on the pattern to be used to represent the material intended to be used during construction with AutoCAD\u2019s hatch command. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hatch command in AutoCAD is used to fill an area or selected objects with a hatch pattern or a fill.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s how to use the command in a few simple steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1.Go to the Draw panel on the Home tab. Find the hatch icon in the bottom right corner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6083 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.investintech.com\/resources\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Hatch-Command-Autocad.png\" alt=\"Using Autocad Hatch Command\" width=\"365\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.investintech.com\/resources\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Hatch-Command-Autocad.png 365w, https:\/\/www.investintech.com\/resources\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Hatch-Command-Autocad-300x143.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 365px) 100vw, 365px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. You will see a \u201cHatch creation\u201d tab. Go to its Properties panel and choose the Hatch type that you would like to insert. Choose between Solid, Gradient, Pattern or User Defined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Choose your desired method: \u201cPick Points\u201d or \u201cSelect Boundary Objects\u201d. The \u201cPick Points\u201d will determine a boundary around the specified point. The \u201cSelect Boundary Objects\u201d will allow you to manually select the boundaries of the area that you would like to hatch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5.
