Another year gone by, another yet to come.
Now, I’m not a real fan of taking tedious stock of the year’s high and low points, everyone does that. Instead, I like to take a different approach and look back on the year as a sequence of moments, the major moments, all strung up together. And this past year, there have been quite a few.
So what’s happened at Investinech.com over the year? (fade in to first memory)
Flashback:
My first week at Investintech.com, Inc. I remember fragments of it: melted snow on the stairs to the office, the new faces lit up by monitors, the sound of the receptionist’s keyboard and my first crack at shrink wrapping and mailing the software (if you’ve ever received your packaged CD in the mail, yes, that’s my signature on the address label—I ship the software out).
Flashback:
Although you don’t know it, we expanded our office space. I remember the headache the noise gave me—banging hammers and whizzing saws. The door was literally cut into our wall to connect with the adjacent room. More spacious and more convenient, the noise was worth it.
Flashback:
The week Investintech.com went to the PDF Conference in Orlando where our Absolute PDF Server was unveiled. By what things do I recall that time? By reading (and saving) the article on PDFZone that covered the event and the new release, by seeing the booth backdrop for the conference when it was first tested out and set up, by the week long absence of David, Keith and George who attended it.
Flashback:
The revamping of our website. The major revamps happened twice—in February and in September with the blog being added in May. I remember both by way of navigating the site with aimless browsing, aka “looking for everything there is to see”. And I just barely recall my first blog post on PDF security, written with a nail biting nervousness.
Flashback:
I remember the months in which we upgraded Able2Extract, Able2Doc and Sonic (upgraded earlier than the others) with silent questions in my head: “Full Powerpoint conversion?”, “What! How many orders to mail out today?!”, “Where’s the difference in these new Sonic CD covers? Is there one?. . . Oh—v.1.2. . . Duh . . . .”
I guess being on the cusp of a new year is always about “looking back to look ahead”. And looking back, it was a great year for us, one with a lot of growth in it. So, what will 2007 be? Well, the way things are going, 2007 looks like its going to be even greater.
Happy New Year!
