After many months of fixing vulnerabilities and releasing emergency patches, Adobe released the much anticipated Adobe Reader X, the latest Adobe PDF Reader version which is redesigned with sandboxing technology to prevent and reduce the risk of PDF attacks.
Many have welcomed the move for the newly added security layer when it was first announced way before it was even released. But as it is with anything that’s been hyped up and talked about, you want to know how everything turned out.
Well, if you’re looking around to find out how the new Adobe Reader X turned out, you’re in luck. This week’s posting is a quick collection of reviews, links, and tweeted comments from around the web.
So take a look at what others had to say about Adobe Reader X so far. . .
From Lockergnome tech blogger, Chris Pirillo, you can get an overview of the Adobe Reader X installation process and how it runs, from his post “Adobe Reader X, Installed Ready for Anything (Early Review).”
Chris Greamo from PDF security company, Invincea, highlights one approach at predicting the potential vulnerabilities in Adobe Reader’s Sandbox that may be exploited in his blog post, “Adobe Reader X’s Sandbox.”
One blogger, known as fonduekid over at Fun@Work, gives his own review on how user-friendly Adobe Reader X really is.
Slashdot.org is one forum where users discuss, vote, and give their comments on a number of topics on the web. Needles to say, the Adobe Reader X thread is full of mixed reviews and opinionated replies, but is a great way to read about the reactions the newly designed application is generating.
On a day to day basis, I’ve been monitoring the Twitter-sphere to stay on top of what’s going on with the PDF and everyday users. And I came across a few interesting comments tweeted by users on their experience with Adobe Reader X:
