This week we’ve got a short security bulletin and update for you.
Just last week, Adobe announced a security advisory warning concerning their popular Adobe Flash Player. Naturally, the exploited vulnerability also had an impact on both Adobe Reader and Acrobat products.
According to the bulletin:
“A critical vulnerability exists in Adobe Flash Player 10.0.45.2 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris operating systems, and the authplay.dll component that ships with Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.x for Windows, Macintosh and UNIX operating systems.
[The vulnerability] could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. There are reports that this vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild against both Adobe Flash Player, and Adobe Reader and Acrobat.”
Thus far, Adobe has released a massive product update for the current Flash Player just yesterday. With it comes a few improvements which you can read about here.
Unfortunately, they have no immediate update for Adobe Reader and Acrobat just yet. An update for Reader and Acrobat 9.3.2 on Windows, Mac and Linux won’t be available until June 29.
We’ll keep you posted on the issue.
