The Merge PDF Files function allows users to merge files opened by Sonic PDF or files that have been newly created by Sonic PDF that remain open in the Sonic PDF viewer.
The Merge PDF Files dialog window displays on the right hand side all currently opened files in Sonic PDF. If the user wishes to merge a file that is not listed under the Opened Files list, they should close the dialog box, open the file in Sonic PDF (without closing the other files in Sonic PDF), and then re-launch the Merge PDF Files function.
In order to create a merged PDF file, the user must select files from the left hand Opened Files list and “Add” them to the Files to be Merged list. If the user decides they wish to remove a file from the “Files to be Merged” list, they can highlight that file by clicking on it with their mouse, and then clicking on the “<<Remove” button.
Files in the “Files to be Merged” list may be reordered. The order of this list will determine the page order of the merged file, with the file at the top appearing first in the merged document, and so on. The order may be changed by selecting a file in the “Files to be Merged list” and then using the “Up” and “Down” buttons to change the order of the files in this list.
Note: A file may validly be opened several times in the “Files to be Merged” list. The result of this would be to create duplicates of the multiply-listed file in the merged file output.
The “Open File Path” area lists the file path for a selected file under the “Opened Files” list. The “Merge File Path” area lists the file path for a selected file under the “Files to be Merged” list.
After merging a file, the resulting file will be named “SonicPDF#”, where # represents the ordered number of Sonic-created PDF files. The user can then select the “Save” or “Save As…” options under the File menu to save the document under a new file name and specify its location to be saved.
