Create Booklet

The Create Booklet command allows users to convert their normally formatted PDF files into PDF-based booklets. This may be desirable for creating pamphlets or special handouts.

The Create Booklet command allows users to convert their normally formatted PDF files into PDF-based booklets. This may be desirable for creating pamphlets or special handouts.

The descriptions for the options for creating booklets in Sonic PDF are provided below:

Paper Size: Specify the paper size and orientation used for the booklet.

Paper size selection: drop-down menu contains a selection of internationally standard paper sizes.

Orientation:

Auto: use the selected page width and height.
Portrait: make page height always greater the width no matter what page type selected .
Landscape: make page width always greater the height no matter what page type selected.

Scale: Specify how the original pages will be fitted to the new page area.

Auto: stretch original pages to the size of destination area calculated by the program.
The original size: use the original size of the page.
Specified: Users provides the size for the destination area.
Proportionally: If checked, the destination area will remain proportional to the original page size.

Margins: Specify the margins for the top, bottom, left, and right borders of the resulting page.

Creep Allowance: Adjusting the page layout of inner spreads to maintain a constant outer margin when the saddle stitched booklet is trimmed. The program will shift each page proportionally from inner pages to outer pages.
Gutter Width: The measure of the center gutter for binding.

Binding type:

Normal: This is the most common type of booklet. Once the pages are all printed, simply fold in half and stitch.
Book: When a booklet has a large number of pages, it becomes difficult to fold the pages. The Book binding can be used to create a series of smaller, easily foldable sections more like a bound book. The number of sheets in each sub-booklet can be set in Sheets per fold. Check “Fill up last fold” to add blank pages in the last section to match the number in Sheets per fold.

Crop Marks: Choose whether or not to draw Crop Marks and set the options of lines.

None: Don’t draw crop marks.
Draw Crop Marks: Draw crop marks on both the corner and the center.
Corner Marks Only: Draw corner crop marks only.
Center Marks Only: Draw center crop marks only.

Bleed Allowance: Specify bleed allowance if necessary to allow for any deviations in cutting the paper to the finished page size.

None: No bleed allowance.
From original PDF: Use the bleed information from the original PDF file.
Specified: User specifies the bleed allowance amounts.
