Personal computers, or PCs, typically run on an operating system known as Windows. The Windows OS was first introduced to the public in 1985 and has been a staple of computer user everywhere ever since. Over the last few decades, Windows has changed an adapted to the computer users’ needs, and today Microsoft offers several different versions of the OS. Some of the older versions include Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows Me, and Windows 2000. Currently, Windows XP, Vista, and the new Windows 7 are the most commonly used versions of this operating system. If you’re a PC user, there are several handy tips and tricks that can be implemented to make using your version of Windows easier and more customized than ever.

Windows XP has been a common staple of PC users for a long time. There is a version developed for home users and a Windows XP Professional version for those operating a business. Users can make the look of Windows XP fit their needs better by making everything appear in full screen, customizing the toolbar, and adding links to your toolbar. These methods are actually quite easy, and can give users a much more user friendly experience. Sometimes commands can be a little bit confusing but once they’re part of every day use, the PC can work to its optimum potential. There are ways to increase bandwidth, which can make the PC run smoother. Gadgets are another fun way to maximize the usage of a PC running on Windows XP. Windows Vista is a newer version of this very popular operating system. In fact, most new computers manufactured today have the Vista OS pre-installed. Vista allows users to really change the look of the desktop to make it look customized and give it a more modern feel.
